Spy Sniper is a system maintenance and security tool. It helps to prevent your computer from getting infected with spyware and adware by establishing active protection against those types of infection, and it can also be used to scan the system for the presence of those little buggers.
When you first install the application, you need to go through an extensive configuration wizard. It will ask you if you want to activate what it calls "shields" on your system. These shields are protective measures that scan your computer, some important files, and Internet Explorer to prevent spyware from getting on your computer. Some of them also disable services that it deems unnecessary for average users to prevent spyware to use them to gain access to your PC. You can activate these shields by checking the check box next to their description.
Once you are done with the wizard, the application allows you to conduct system scans in your computer files, memory, and registry. It will look for spyware, adware and privacy-threatening files. You can then remove them in the Remove inlay. Here, you can also enable or disable the shields. There is a scheduler feature for scanning your computer at a programmed time.
Scanning takes time, because the application examines every file in your system. In my case, I was lucky that the application didn't find any spyware. The full scan took some 10 minutes.
